The Location Matters lab at North Carolina State University seeks a creative, motivated Ph.D. student with an interest in spatial social network analysis to join our team. The position will begin Fall 2023 and is funded for four years at $30,000/year, plus benefits and tuition waiver, through the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Geospatial Analytics offered by NC State’s Center for Geospatial Analytics (geospatial.ncsu.edu).
The selected applicant will join a research group focused on understanding environmental and disaster recovery policy implementation through social science frameworks. The student will be actively involved in collaborations with communities recovering from disaster and non-profit and government organizations supporting social and ecological resilience. The student will be encouraged to weave their interests and career goals into these rich community-university partnerships.
The Center for Geospatial Analytics at NC State is an internationally recognized hub for interdisciplinary data scientists pushing the boundaries of spatial data science to advance discovery and inform real-world decision-making (geospatial.ncsu.edu/research). Our work involves deep collaboration with government, industry, and community partners to address environmental and societal challenges. We are especially committed to increasing the representation of students that have been historically underrepresented in U.S. higher education.

Requirements
Applicants should hold a degree in geography, public administration, cultural studies or a related discipline. Experience with spatial analysis or statistical analysis is strongly recommended.
